Nutcracker
Let’s Discover Ballet
19 January 2008 Saturday
9:30 am - 10:30 am
Glass Hall

Featuring: Students of the Hungarian Dance Academy Story teller, host: Győző Lukácsházi It is no exaggeration that dance is one of the most beautiful things in the world. Movements in precise harmony with music, the ability to express what we are feeling and thinking and even being able to tell stories, combined they have all made ballet attractive and a thing for eternity. For dancers to be able to do all this requires years of hard study, starting as small children, and only after huge amounts of practise and disciplined work are they ready to take to the stage. In this performance, we will hear music from Piotr Tchaikovsky’s ballet The Nutcracker and see extracts from the dances. We’ll hear about the secrets of ballet, from the shoes to the tutu they wear, and we’ll also meet children who are studying this wonderful art form and already know a lot about it. If our programme inspires anyone to take up ballet, we’ll encourage them to talk with their parents. After the performances, there will be educative museum activities in the Ludwig Museum.
