Joint production by the Palace of Arts and the Vienna Theater an der Wien supported by Hungarian Telekom The Palace of Arts is organizing its special New Year’s Day concert for the third time. The conductor is the internationally renowned Ádám Fischer, who has been campaigning for Haydn for much of his career and who initiated this MUPA tradition. Rather than play light classical music à la Johann Strauss, he wanted the New Year to be ushered in with a magical oratorio that proclaims the miracle of life: The Creation. The soloists are all hugely respected exponents of Viennese classicism, while the choir is without doubt one of the world’s finest. The Freiburg Baroque Orchestra also happens to be one of conductor René Jacobs’s favourite ensembles.
