The 2023 New Year's concert for young people will demonstrate many things that are important to Müpa Budapest. Haydn's oratorio The Seasons is one of the core works of the classical repertoire. The Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra represents the highest standard of a world-class international ensemble, while the Hungarian Radio Choir and the soloists, Réka Kristóf, László Kálmán and Miklós Sebestyén, as well as the internationally renowned conductor, represent the values of the Hungarian performing arts tradition. Another matter close to our heart is the conversational-format concert genre and its ability to draw in young people. Come and turn through the pages of Haydn's nature picture book together with Ádám Fischer!

The Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra was led in the 19th century by the likes of Mendelssohn and Schumann, and in the 20th by their successors Jenő Szenkár, Jean Martinon, Rafael Frühbeck de Burgos and Henryk Czyż, among others. A former student of Hans Swarowsky's and the winner of the 1973 Cantelli Competition in Milan, Ádám Fischer has served as the first concert conductor of this storied ensemble that is celebrated around the world since 2015. The Hungarian Radio Choir (choirmaster: Zoltán Pad)... is one of Hungary's busiest oratorio choirs and is well versed in both the classical and contemporary repertoires as well. The three Hungarian soloists for the performance, Réka Kristóf (soprano), Zoltán Megyesi (tenor) and Miklós Sebestyén (bass-baritone), are all also soloists with the Hungarian State Opera House. All three are just as much at home in interpreting masterpieces of the operatic literature as they are with the concert repertoire, having achieved significant success both here in Hungary and abroad. Haydn's late oratorio The Seasons, first presented in 1801, shows the harmony of Man and Nature in the mirror of the Eternal Cycle in a playful and folksy manner. In his performances for the New Year's concert for young people, Ádám Fischer conducts a condensed version of the work being played in the full New Year's concert, delivered along with informal and intriguing explanations.
