What would happen if Sándor Petőfi were to write János Vitéz right here and now, before our very eyes? In this new stage version, the story emerges from a giant laptop, from which the two-dimensional and living characters of the tale come to life to bring the world of Johnny Corncob and Iluska into being through spoken word and song. The combination of Pongrác Kacsóh’s beloved melodies and Petőfi’s original plot paints this well-known classic tale in fresh new colours. The realm of hussars, witches and fairies is presented in a visually appealing and playful way, while the production also offers resonant contemporary takes on the story’s timeless themes of loyalty, courage and enduring love. In this family-friendly performance, nostalgic school memories, beloved melodies and modern visual elements blend together with delightful ease.
