The Typewriter
In his greetings in honour of the first World Music Day, Yehudi Menuhin, the wonderful violinist and instigator behind the celebration wrote in 1975: “I would urge every village and every city, every region and every country to arrange musical manifestations of every description. Personally, I would love these to include not only concerts and broadcasts of music from all periods of history and very particularly the contemporary world, but also spontaneous music-making in the streets by musicians of every king – singers, choral groups, jazz players as well as the exponents of the classical.” It is in the spirit of this appeal, which remains just as relevant today as it was in 1975, that we are organising this concert.
The event will be followed by a free activity session on Banner Square entitled Reverberation for groups holding tickets to the performance.
