Featuring:
Just like buildings, pieces of music are constructed from small component parts. From sounds and from tones that obey the universal laws of music – and sometimes break them. But how are the building blocks of music assembled? In what way do individual instruments and solo parts support and complement each other? How is music able to become more than just the sum of its parts? The events of the Soundcastle programme series will provide us with answers to all these questions and more, while we will also get an insight into the inner workings of the instruments. What is more, we can also receive tips on how to make our own eco-instruments.
Is every instrument suited to playing solos, or is it only the right of the chosen few, as the others are inevitably pushed into the background? And what good is a solo instrument without the support of the others? In the chamber orchestra and solos edition of Soundcastle, we will have the chance to find out.
