The Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra (PASO) are holding a children's party to the sounds of their cheerful Jamaican dance music. For this illustrious occasion, they will be dressing up in the colours of the Caribbean such beloved old songs as the Kaláka Ensemble's Nandu and Vilmos Gryllus's Kárókatona ("Cormorant”) and will also be delighting young and old alike with their own songs written for the occasion. The programme will also feature classic PASO pieces, allowing everyone to clap to the rhythms of A Tenkes kapitánya ("The Tank Captain”) and shout out the words "hortobágyi palacsinta” during Hungarian Dish. The audience can also count on getting some dance instruction, so everyone is sure to pick up the pulse of the ska and reggae numbers. The large ensemble boasts many instruments, including several wind players, so the thrill of the visual experience will match that of the music, with visitors also getting the chance to learn the names of the different instruments.
Now nearly 15 years old, the Pannonia Allstars Ska Orchestra has always sought out new musical paths and challenges: they've already staged a folk music fusion programme, a performance with symphonic accompaniment, a psychedelic dub version and have worked with a multitude of guests artists from both Hungary and abroad. They have never, however, embarked on an adventure like this one. They are greatly looking forward to their appearance in the Müpa Tent and hope that they will succeed in making the littlest generation into fans of ska and reggae music.
