Budapest Strings - Opera Playhouse
Mozart: Don Giovanni
15 February 2020, Saturday
2 pm - 3 pm
Glass Hall

The Opera Playhouse is an interactive programme for children to actively learn to listen to opera through play. The experience will literally become tangible through face-to-face contact with the singers and orchestra. Director Pál Göttinger oversees the children's active engagement, while Dániel Dinyés attempts to bring each opera's musical message to life in accessible form.

A permanent fixture at the performances, the Budapest Strings Chamber Orchestra supplies an important part of the operas: the accompaniment. The accompaniment can make the arias and duets sound even more alive musically. Each concert features two singers engaging with the children, whose role extends beyond sitting in the audience, as they also get to learn how to collaborate and perform with the opera singers. In the 2019/20 season, three different operas will be presented on three different occasions. Following last November's opera by Donizetti, The Elixir of Love, the youngsters will now get a chance to get to know Mozart's Don Giovanni.
