tuba, presenter József Bazsinka Jr

The trumpet, like the French horn and other brass instruments, has a funnel-shaped mouthpiece that is played by vibrating the lips Unlike the French horn, the large part of its tube is cylindrical, which gives the instrument its more penetrating tone. Military trumpets fashioned from metal were already employed by the ancient Egyptians, but the instrument is known from both Roman and Greek times. The natural trumpet was popularised in European music of the 14th to 16th centuries. In the Baroque period, it was primarily used as a solo instrument, usually accompanied by timpanies. It became a full-fledged musical instrument in the 1830s, when it was furnished with valves, enabling it to play the full scale of 12 notes. A popular instrument for both orchestral and solo parts in classical music, it has also been used extensively in jazz since the 20th century.
