The pursuit of beauty, happiness, courage and truth is such a dormant elemental desire in all of us that in today's world, with its ever sharper dividing lines drawn between people, frequently it is only by walking in the shoes of an idealised character, under the influence of a creative work of art, that we can experience it. Verdi's opera La traviata is one such creative work, one which has awakened generations of hearts to the ideal of pure love and self-sacrifice, while also raising important questions through its undying relevance. As we live through the personal dramas of our own lives, how often do we stray from the right path? And indeed, what does the “right path” even mean these days?
The two acts of this dance drama adaptation developed through the collaboration of Inversedance – Zoltán Fodor Company and GG Dance Eger – by virtue of the diverging visions and languages of movement of their respective creators, Zoltán Fodor and Tamás Topolánszky – differ strikingly from each other. And just as two conflicting emotions – love and pain – often merge to create a single emotional state in real life, so the two interpretations join to create a single spectacular production that is moving and thought-provoking.

A joint production of the Géza Gárdonyi Theatre, Inversedance – Zoltán Fodor Company and the National Dance Theatre
