Paris de Nuit reveals the torrid world of 1930s variety shows in all their sensuality, charm and forbidden desires, making the production an unforgettable one. With a worldly tone, it presents on the stage the deceptive life portraits of people living on the fringes of society: prostitutes, lowlifes and secret lovers. This joint production from Müpa Budapest and Recirquel also draws inspiration from the idiosyncratic vision of world-renowned Hungarian photographer Brassaï (born Gyula Halász).

Bringing to life the decadent and sultrily erotic world of the era while evoking the lustful yet loveable milieu of the Parisian café nightlife of the early 20th century will be amazing acrobats, dancers and musicians. The audience will take their seats at tables situated on the stage itself and in its immediate vicinity. With the distance between the performers and the viewers eliminated, you might easily find the acrobats doing handstands over your head, on bistro tables that have been specially converted into circus props.
Each of the show's scenes was inspired by Brassaï's photographs, which have immortalised unique and audacious moments of the Parisian night for us. You too will get to discover the hidden narrow streets, nooks and squares of Montmarte where Picasso, Henry Miller, Modigliani, Josephine Baker and Brassaï himself wrapped themselves in the darkness of night. Outstanding jazz musicians, singers and dancers will join with wonderful circus artists to share with you a unique experience that reveals the secrets of the longed-for Parisian nights.

The première was an event of the CAFe Budapest Contemporary Arts Festival.
The performance is recommended for those aged 16 and over.
