Life in a peasant society was strictly regulated, and its members lived out their days according to a defined system of values. Their lives revolved around agricultural work, religion, holidays, and the vicissitudes of human existence. The unchanging link in the chain of renewal was the individual – man and woman, and the relationship between them: the family. For a long time in peasant society, the life of women was characterised by fatalism and defencelessness. The task of establishing a strong bond with the children was that of the mother, who raises the next generation for the sake of society and the nation. Her sacrifice, her performing her duties around the household, in her marriage and in maintaining her family was the force that held the society, the nation and the entire world together.
