The Hungarian National Dance Ensemble's latest production recounts a sad story, one of the most mysterious in the Hungarian literature of ballads, which portrays profound human emotions and ends in tragedy. It is the age-old story of the conflict between the sexes, with love flaring up, only to be followed by faithlessness and jealousy.
Rendered in dance, the ballad makes use of the most distant elements of Hungarian folk dance and music, fusing, as it were, "primitive” emotions with "primitive” motions and music.
This performance of the Budapest Spring Festival is presented by Müpa Budapest and Hungarian National Dance Ensemble.
