Ballet lives! In addition to performing excerpts from popular creative works (including Coppélia, Don Quixote, Flames of Paris and Spartacus), the graduating students will be dancing pieces by 20th and 21st century choreographers: Balanchine's Tchaikovsky Pas de deux, László Seregi's wonderful one-act Variations on a Nursery Tune, as well as a new piece from Leo Mujić.

In nine years of professional training at the Hungarian Dance Academy, students are taught the age-old traditions of classical ballet. At the same time, they are also prepared to interpret the works of contemporary choreographers. And although the curriculum is shared, in time role types are established, so that everyone has the opportunity to present themselves at the graduation performance in the styles and roles with which they have the greatest affinity. It is a unique experience when choreographers teach their own pieces themselves, as Frankfurt's Mark Spradling has done, or when the new work is created (with significant support from the National Cultural Fund of Hungary) specifically for – and with the help of – the performers, as was the case with Leo Mujić.
The kids who matriculated nine years ago have since developed into young artists meriting attention from both the Hungarian and international audience, as well as from leaders of dance ensembles from everywhere in the world. Over the years, the Hungarian students have been joined by dancers from Finland, Japan, Italy and Serbia. In just a few more weeks, this year's graduating class splits up to head for different stages around the world: in all likelihood, this will be their last appearance all together.
