In nine years of professional training at the Hungarian Dance Academy, students are taught the age-old traditions of classical ballet. At the same time, they are also prepared to interpret the works of contemporary choreographers. And although the curriculum is shared, in time the roles take shape, so that everyone has the opportunity to present themselves at the graduation performance in the styles and roles with which they have the greatest affinity. For this examination concert – of which the audience can here see a preview – the young dancers will have the chance to exhibit not only their technical abilities, but also their artistic versatility. How, for example, they can bring to life values passed down through the centuries as they dance to Petipa's sparkling classical Sleeping Beauty, or how they can successfully bring to the stage the work of contemporary artists, such as Noémi Kulcsár's Bolero created for the occasion. This performance to close the season also always finds roles for the youngsters. They may only be collaborators this time around, but they know only too well that, in a few short years, they will be the ones on stage waiting to graduate.
The kids who took their entrance exams nine years ago have now grown into young artists on the verge of graduation, worthy of the attention of both the domestic and international audience, as well as of leaders of dance ensembles from anywhere in the world. And now they await you, too, dear audience!
