Since 1983, International Dance Day has been held on 29 April to commemorate the birthday of Jean-Georges Noverre, the man considered to be the father of classical ballet. The biggest celebration on the dance calendar has been marked for many years now by a gala evening organised by the Association of Hungarian Dance Artists, in collaboration with the National Dance Theatre, to present its professional awards, along with the prizes of the Zoltán Imre Foundation and Zoltán Nagy Jr Foundation, and to distribute the Viktor Fülöp Dance Scholarships as well. The gala night offers a representative selection from the productions of the artists and performers receiving honours. Scheduled to participate in the performance: Yvette Bozsik Company, Budapest Operetta Theatre Ballet Ensemble, Duna Art Ensemble, Ballet Company of Győr, Hungarian State Folk Ensemble, Hungarian National Ballet, Hungarian National Dance Ensemble, Miskolc Ballet, Ballet Pécs, Szeged Contemporary Dance Company

Presented by: National Dance Theatre
