The Forrás Folk Dance Ensemble is celebrating its 35th anniversary, an extremely important milestone for a small company from an industrial town. The production is a sample of the everyday life of an ensemble in perpetual motion, and its struggles, constant search for new ways to move forward, joys and sorrows, without which there would be no tomorrow. All those years ago, nobody at Érd's Vörösmarty High School would have thought that what would go on to become - even by international standards - a leading dance company was being born right there and then.

Something started in Érd, and then it continued in Százhalombatta before crossing what the poet Endre Ady knowingly referred to as the 'great and sacred ocean': all the way to the United States, Mexico and China. The former high school group is a winner of domestic competitions (among them the Szolnok National Folk Dance Festival and the Szekszárd National Folk Dance Festival), has now been rated 'outstanding' on ten occasions and performed with distinction on the Fölszállott a páva live television talent show. It has also furthered Hungary's good name in 56 countries. Forrás gave birth to one of Europe's and CIOFF's largest festivals, the Summerfest International Folklore Festival, which has now welcomed more than 530 groups and over 20,000 folk dancers from five continents. A special and unique feature of the evening is the collaboration between the Felhőjárók Theatre Group and wheelchair dancer Rita Janovics, which demonstrates how disabled young people can work together with a folk dance group to create art. The extended Forrás family now numbers 500 people, who now invite one and all to their gathering at Müpa Budapest.
