The Cordança Flamenco Dance Ensemble from Córdoba in Andalusia tells the story of the life and works of the famous Symbolism painter Julio Romero de Torres, with choreography from Álvaro Paños and Carmen Manzanera

Torres is considered "the soul of Andalusian painting”, and his art is inextricably intertwined with flamenco, bullfighting and the erotic. His portraits also emerge from the depths of 1920s Córdoba into the Cordança production to blend reality and illusion into a unique whole in much the same vein as the work of Torres. Love, jealousy and death - these are the main themes not only of Torres's famous painting Cante hondo, but also of the performance by Cordança. The unsettling music and dance of the ensemble contain all the passion of flamenco, a secure foundation for those visual elements that allow us to soar closer to Torres himself.
