The grand master of cirque nouveau, Daniele Finzi Pasca, returns to the Palace of Arts with another breathtaking production.
Donka, performed by Compagnia Finzi Pasca, will run for a week in November at the Festival Theatre. La Verita, is not the only feather in Finzi Pasca's cap, his accomplishments also include directing Corteo, the Cirque du Soleil's most successful production.
Through Donka, Daniele Finzi Pasca – who is not only the piece's creator, but also its director and co-choreographer – reveals a more wistful and fragile side to his character.

Daniele Finzi Pasca created this contemporary circus production to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Anton Chekhov, recording the soundtrack with Russian musicians in Moscow and celebrating the world première at the International Theatre Festival held in honour of the writer. “I decided to discover Chekhov, looking for particulars and details, both in his life and in the pages of his writings, and more besides. I thought of giving shape to the silences contained in the notes of his diaries and of creating images from his annotations. I come from a theatre deeply impregnated with the language of clowns, of jugglers, from the magical world of acrobats. That is how I will recall Chekhov…” (Daniele Finzi Pasca)

A resounding success in many countries around the world, Donka won London's The Stage magazine awards for “Best Show” and “Greatest Moment of the Year” in 2012. The magazine described the production as “Strange and surreal, funny and fun, Donka is simply dazzling.”
