Libretto: Zsuzsa Vincze based on a novel by Ferenc Örsi Song lyrics: István Turczi Dance music editor: Péter Árendás Composer: Ferenc Sebô Director-Choreographer: Zoltán Zsuráfszky Joint production by the Honvéd Dance Theatre and the National Dance Theatre The Captain of Tenkes was an adventure film made in 1964 and enjoyed huge popularity. The production is set in the time of the Hungarian uprising against the Austrian Habsburgs. The main character is a composite of several actual historical figures. The story gives a fairy tale-like and often humorous account of the Hungarian freedom fighters who use their native Hungarian cunning and ingenuity to get the better of the bumbling Austrian forces.
