An eternal story in the spirit of an outrageous comedy. Pinocchio represents at once the freedom of childhood fantasy and serves as the symbol of the wastefulness of a growing boy. When Master Geppetto artfully fashions a small wooden figure from a tree stump he finds outside his hous, the figure appears as a happy little boy. Gepetto christens him Pinocchio and regards the boy as the son he had always craved. To the craftsman's surprise, the small carving comes to life. He even sells his cape ...just to pay for the naughty little boy to go to school. But a succession of unscrupulous characters take advantage of Pinocchio's naiveté, as a result of which he strays onto the wrong path. He becomes embroiled in incredible adventures as his desperate father seeks him in vain. All the while, a fairy godmother watches over his every move and keeps him out of trouble. At the end of his incredible journey, Geppetto returns to share his troubles with his loving father. Presented by: National Dance Theatre
