“It is no coincidence that we have borrowed the title of Sándor Kányádi’s poem for our programme. This verse was not just the ‘cult verse’ of the dance house movement, which signified the rediscovery of folk art in the late 20th century, but the verse also implies that the movement encouraged numerous superb artists to work in parallel with the movement whose legendary choreographies are now nowhere to be seen. In the programme, the Honvéd Dance Theatre brings to life some of the most important... thematic folkdance choreographies of the past thirty years in juxtaposition with the original dance tradition, which provided their starting point. With this programme, we would like to pay homage to the dance house movement and to those still living members of the Hungarian school of choreography working at that time, who contributed to the world success of Hungarian dance with their work”. Zoltán Zsuráfszky Additional performance: Festival Theatre, November 16 (19.00)
