Libretto: Francesco Maria Piave, Arrigo Boito Amelia: Adrianne Pieczonka, Gabriele Adorno: Marcello Giordani, Simon Boccanegra: Plácido Domingo, Jacopo Fiesco: James Morris Featuring a Metropolitan Opera Orchestra and Choir Conductor: James Levine Organiser: Giancarlo del Monaco Live broadcast with Hungarian subtitles (Programme length: 3 hours 40 minutes with 2 breaks) Now in the fourth decade of his legendary career at the New York Met, Plácido Domingo is writing history: performing in the title role which demands a baritone voice. He is partnered by Canadian Adrianne Pieczonka as Amelia, whose immense, full bodied voice, dynamism, expressive subtlety and stage presence has been extravagantly praised by the press. Marcello Giordani is playing the tenor role in Verdi’s gripping political thriller yet again at the Metropolitan Opera. The critics frequently comment on the naturalness of his singing and the immense sweep of his phrasing.
