This performance featuring a polished ensemble of Mozartian singers marks the Met debut of the talented young but already globally recognised German maestra Joana Mallwitz on the conductor’s podium. A revival of Richard Eyre’s 2014 production resetting the story in the 1930s, it features such rising stars as Ukraine’s Olga Kulchynska (Susanna), the Italian Federica Lombardi (Countess Rosina) and France’s Marianne Crebassa (Cherubino). Also adding to the youthful energy will be the Texas-born Michael Sumuel and Canada’s Joshua Hopkins, as Figaro and Count Almaviva, respectively.
The broadcast will be sung in the original language, and shown with Hungarian and English subtitles.
The ‘Metropolitan Opera Live in HD’ transmissions have been made possible through the cooperation of our partner, liveincinema.eu s.r.o.
