Beethoven
Symphony No. 2 in D major, op. 36
Hisako Kawamura completed her musical studies in Germany. Her play is characterised by an incredible sense of rhythm, flexibility, freedom and, of course, perfect technique. As a result, she has toured the world with some of the top conductors and orchestras. With Zoltán Kocsis on the podium here, she will perform a concerto that is rarely performed on account of its extraordinary difficulty. In the second part of the evening, we will hear Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2, which is the music of joy, optimism and humour, and is the last of piece of work the composer wrote in the Classical Viennese style perfected by Haydn before he composed the ground-breaking Eroica symphony.
