Sonata in B minor, op. 58

After graduating from Budapest's Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music, Dániel Villányi continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar, in a course led by Balázs Szokolay. He then perfected his skills at Tel Aviv University's Buchmann-Mehta School of Music before being admitted into the Weimar academy's two-year post-graduate programme (Konzertexamen) in 2014. He enjoys challenges, as his exciting concert programme shows. After the Bach piece, he'll be playing a rarely performed late piano cycle of Schumann's, of which the composer's wife wrote in her diary, “the Morning Songs are very original as always but hard to understand, their tone is so very strange.”
Ivett Gyöngyösi's beautiful, inspired playing, personal in its tone, is always a pleasure to hear. The 2014 winner in her age group of the Virtuosos television talent-search programme is closely linked to Chopin. Even as a young child, she exhibited a special sensitivity and affinity for the music of the Romantic giant of the piano. She again turned to the Franco-Polish master at age 11 for her admission examination to the Liszt Music Academy's class for exceptionally talented young students, and has won several Chopin competitions both in Hungary and abroad.
