Every Step Further

Being invited to the Rising Stars series run by the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) is a genuine privilege, since the young musicians nominated by the continent’s prestigious concert halls all have to meet stringent criteria. This is precisely what makes it so special for the series to have a Hungarian participant. The young cimbalom player Áron Horváth won the Fölszállott a páva television talent show aged just 12, before he came under the influence of jazz as a member of Mihály Dresch’s formations. He has been studying classical cimbalom at the Liszt Academy since 2023. In this case, an “unrepeatable night” is not an empty marketing slogan as improvisation will play the leading role at this concert that promises to defy categorisation in terms of genre, which is due in large part to the involvement of the rest of Hotváth’s Intergeese combo. The classics will be represented by Bach and Kurtag alongside Charlotte Bray, who has already had a work performed as part of the series.
