Anna Somogyi was born in 1983 in the village of Tab, Somogy County and started to play piano aged seven. On completing music school, she continued her studies in the piano and musical theory/solfège at the Pécs Secondary School for Music. She became acquainted with the organ during a summer course held at the Evangelical Cantor Training Institute in Fót, before applying to the Béla Bartók Conservatory, where she studied under Lilla Szathmáry. In the meantime, she was accepted to the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music to study conducting and church music. She later also enrolled in the organ course, where she was taught by János Pálúr, István Ruppert and László Fassang. She was subsequently granted a scholarship to study in Germany at the Herford School of Church Music, where she later continued her post-graduate studies. Entry is free.
