Tamás Érdi is to commemorate immortal composers with a 200 years anniversary by a solo recital featuring popular works of Chopin (1810-1849) and Liszt (1811-1886) on September 21. The thematic programmes of the ongoing four-part series under the title LISZT AND THE PIANO WITH HUNGARIAN TELEKOM, structured along exciting topics and correlations, has been followed by the audience with great interest.
Gustav Mahler’s 150th birth anniversary and 100th death anniversary shall be commemorated as part of a unique concert series on the 2nd of July in Budapest in the Palace of Arts.
The experience game of the five year old Palace of Arts began on the 14th of January with the performance of „Sangre Flamenca” by the New Spanish Ballett and it finished on the 16th of June at the last evening of the Budapest Wagner Days.
„We talk and help with music” Concerto Budapest and the National Philharmonic with the support of Hungarian Telecom organise a benefit concert called „Hungarian Fantasy” to help flood victims on the 22nd of June in the Palace of Arts. The total revenue of this grandiose cultural event shall be given to flood victims thorough the Hungarian Red Cross.
Due to the unprecendeted interest - for the first time in Hungary - the Palace of Arts repeats six Metropolitan shows in the 2010 – 2011 season. Unlike previously announced, the Palace of Arts shall also present the live transmission of John Adam’s world famous opera Nixon in China.
Tickets sales for the 2011 Wagner Days begin on the first day of the 2010 Budapest Wagner Days. Next year the Palace of Arts will again present the operas Parsifal and Tristan und Isolde as well as a new staging of Lohengrin.
On 26 May the Palace of Arts held a press conference on Budapest Wagner Days, specifically about the Tristan production jointly created with the Hungarian State Opera. The 29 May premier of Tristan and Isolde (and two additional performances on 1 June and 16 June), newly included as part of the repertoire of Wagner Days to be held between 29 May and 16 June, and the encore performance of The Ring of the Nibelung from 10-13 June are the main attractions of the event series. In connection to the 2010 festival the Wagner almanac, supplemented by a Tristan book, has been released.
