2011. June 02.

We kindly inform our guests that István Kovácsházi will play the role of Lohengrin instead of Fritz Burkhard on June 9, 12 and 18.

István Kovácsházi pursued his vocal studies under the guidance of master vocalist Margit Kapossy. He has been a member and soloist of the Hungarian Army’s Male Choir since 1991. Between 1994-95, he was the Titular Soloist of the Csokonai Theatre of Debrecen, and then member of the Budapest Operetta and Musical Theatre from 1995 to 1997. He debuted in 1997 at the State Opera as Schubert in Schubert and Berté’s operetta: Das Dreimäderlhaus (House of the Three Girls). He has been a permanent visiting artist at the theatre ever since. He gradually switched from lighter Mozart and lyrical tenor roles to those of more dramatic heroes. He has been invited to perform in Frankfurt, Tokyo, Munich, Tel-Aviv and Chicago. He made his debut at the Mannheim National Theatre in the 2008/09 season as Walther von Stolzing, and has also been a member of this German ensemble since then.
