A Season of Reunion – Muti, Harding, Herreweghe and Christie return to Müpa Budapest in 2027

Familiar faces and audience favourites return to Müpa Budapest next year, while a host of other musical treats also await in the programme of events announced for the first half of 2027. And although the saying goes that one can have too much of a good thing, what is truly valuable is worth repeating – especially when it means getting to revisit a beloved performer or orchestra.
Daniel Harding and the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia of Rome arrive with a programme of works by Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev and Sibelius and a virtuoso pianist as soloist. Riccardo Muti and the Vienna Philharmonic present a concert featuring pieces closely connected to the Austrian capital, while Philippe Herreweghe celebrates his 80th birthday with us.
William Christie and Les Arts Florissants arrive for the Early Music Festival with a concert programme featuring two rarely heard gems from Rameau’s oeuvre. We will welcome the Swiss La Cetra Barockorchester & Vokalensemble Basel to Hungary for the first time, and Olivier Latry will give a joint concert with phil Blech Wien.
Eliane Elias returns for the Jazz Spring, for which we will also by welcoming John Scofield, who turns 75 next year, Julian Lage, Orsi Kozma and her quartet, with the pioneer of electronic music Robert Henke presenting a new work. Hungarian popular music will be showcased by Európa Kiadó, László Kollár-Klemencz and Mörk, while the world-music scene will be represented by Sona Jobarteh – the number one female star of her generation – Canzoniere Grecanico Salentino, Maria Mazzotta with Raül Refree, and Oum. Meanwhile, A Celebration of Folk Music will remember Ferenc Sebő.
After its premiere in Győr, Ballet Company of Győr’s latest production, LOVEre, arrives in Budapest, and both the Literarium and the Müpa Film Club series will continue with new programmes.
Tickets for the new season will first become available to members of the Müpa+ membership programme: the pre-sale period begins for Platinum members on 29 September, for Gold members on 30 September and for Silver members on 1 October; base-level cardholders and the general public may purchase tickets from 2 October.
