Budapest Bár is one of the best-known brands in the 21st-century Hungarian music world: modern coffee-house Gypsy music performed by outstanding instrumentalists and popular singers, featuring continuous renewal and fresh thematic productions. The Budapest Bár Boulevard show will be no exception, with songs and stories about the past of the city that are still relevant today, recreating an era where, walking the streets of Budapest, you would hear music playing in the coffee houses as songwriters – with lyrics scrawled on scraps of paper tucked under their arm – rushed past to ensure their latest compositions could be performed in the evening show. In the cafés, the famous lyricist would sit at the piano, as pretty ladies requested flirtatious songs and the male members of the café society enjoyed the Budapest witticisms. With the able assistance of András Péter Kovács, Budapest Bár will bring the songs and jokes of Hungary’s capital to life.
