The Kecskemét-born violinist, singer and songwriter Edina “Mókus” Szirtes has worked with more than two dozen productions and ensembles. Her records, shows and even genres are notably diverse. The event – whose title is taken from a poem by Ernő Szép – will feature the Etno String Quintet, including the cellist Ditta Rohmann. The second half of the concert will also see appearances from folk musicians and special guests from the world of ethno jazz, including the cimbalom player Jenő Lisztes. In other words, a string chamber orchestra sound and virtuosity are guaranteed. The songs, which are inspired by both a respect for Hungarian folklore and the legacy of the great poets, will express the eternal sentiments of anguish and joy. The treasures of the heart. Although this show preserves the traditions of folk music, the genres will blend into each other through improvisational play and a rich contemporary sound.
