Mozart

The Magic Flute, K. 620 – excerpts

If you think Mozart was an exciting composer and fascinating personality – even a genius – or if you long to discover how the story of The Magic Flute can be interpreted in the 21st century, then you can’t go wrong with this interactive musical program. The illustrated talk, interwoven with live music, aims to reveal the deeper layers of a work often described as a parable. The Magic Flute Story not only outlines the plot, it also explores the creative process that can be deduced from Mozart’s letters, biographies, and the score, as well as the psychological and musical dimensions of the main characters. The performers will present selected excerpts from the opera to illuminate the messages hidden behind the voice types and the symbolic meaning of the different keys.

The performance is recommended for those aged 16 and over.
