We’re turning twenty! We have many events in store to commemorate this anniversary, but one of the most significant promises to be the concert given by Müpa Budapest’s resident orchestra, the Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra, as it takes the stage together with conductor György Vashegyi and one of the greatest pianists of our time, Austria’s Rudolf Buchbinder. Each piece in the programme has some symbolic relevance: it was in Budapest that the premiere of Brahms’s Piano Concerto No. 2 in B-flat major took place in 1881, with the composer himself serving as the soloist, while Dohnanyi's Ruralia hungarica, Bartók's Hungarian Peasant Songs series and Liszt's symphonic poem Les Préludes are all unique gems of Hungarian music.
