Here for the seventh time, the Jazz Showcase – Jazz Talent Exchange continues, taking advantage of the remarkably rich seam of talented jazz musicians in Hungary to present the cream of the current crop with opportunities to introduce themselves to the public at the Palace of Arts. Moreover, we don’t stop at the country’s borders: as in the two preceding years, the first weekend after Epiphany in 2014 again features an international exchange of jazz talent. On this occasion, the series of even...ts casts its net wider, inviting young hopefuls from Germany and Turkey. An exciting pairing? Certainly, because while there is no need for a lengthy introduction to the vibrant diversity of the German jazz scene or its trend-setting role at the European and even global level, the Turkish scene, for many, still remains to be explored. And yet it can be no accident that in 2013, on the second International Jazz Day launched by UNESCO, the gala concerts took place in Istanbul, featuring such stars as Herbie Hancock, the late George Duke, Al Jarreau and Dianne Reeves. Beginning from 4 pm as before, the Foyer main stage and the Banner Square take turns to host concerts by young Hungarian, German and Turkish talents. Jazz experts and promoters invited from across the continent can be expected to listen with their ears and hearts as open as those of the curious audience of jazz lovers. Entry is free.
