Árpád Oláh Tzumo – piano, keyboards, Péter Papesch – bass guitar, Gergő Borlai – drums, Sándor “Fodo” Födő jr – percussion Featuring: Kristóf Bacsó – soprano and alto saxophone, Kornél Fekete-Kovács – trumpet, cornet, DJ Bootsie – record player For some time now, it’s been off the mark to describe Árpád Oláh Tzumo as a young hopeful. There is no question he has arrived big time! This twenty seven year old pianist and composer has now appeared in many forward looking productions that prove hi...s diverse mastery of many aspects of jazz – we really must place him in the front rank internationally. Tzumo entered the Leó Weiner Conservatoire at the age of seven before continuing his piano studies at the Ferenc Erkel Music School. 2001 was a turning point for him when he won the Hungarian Radio Gábor Füsti Balogh Jazz Piano Talent Competition, the “Jazz an der Donau” competition and subsequently, the Jazz Hoeilaart Intern’l Contest in several categories. That same year, he released his first record My Time and at the end of the year, attended the Boston Berklee College of Music on a scholarship. In 2002, he was admitted to the famous Los Angeles Thelonious Monk Institute where he polished his playing and compositional style with the likes of Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter, Terence Blanchard and Kenny Garrett. In the meantime, he won an eMeRTon Prize and in 2003 was named one of the fifty most successful young Hungarians. In 2006, he wrote an album for Felly K and recently published a CD of his solo improvisations. He will show various facets of his musical personality at the Festival Theatre, playing the concert piano and then the synthesiser. With his formation Electronic Dreams he will then show us an exciting fusion of jazz, rock, world music and the freshest in electronic music.
