Host: Zsola The history of soul music is inseparable from R&B and gospel and shares the same roots. The very term soul tells us that this is music from our inner depths. It only truly established itself in the 1960s. Although initially, it was overwhelmingly “black” music, “white” skinned folk successfully cultivated it as well. An important development came when James Brown, Sly Stone and others made it easier to dance, leading to the evolution of funky. This evening is an inviting programme f...or lovers of the genre: all the performers will be serving up true black music and also a host of funky Hungarian songs. The kings of black Hungarian music are Back II Black and in both their music and look, are travelling a unique path: they fuse the stylistic hallmarks of black music with their own musical concepts and are exciting and characterful representatives of Hungarian light music. Their guest musicians will be Lajos Havas (trombone, vocals) and Zoltán Bubenyák (piano). In 1999, a young group, then calling itself Acid Company, got together with producer and lyricist Tamás Orbán to prepare their first album under a new name: United. This record was a great hit, launching the guys to the forefront of Hungarian light music: each of their songs has a palpable funky rhythm. Laci Gáspár came third in the Megastar talent contest and won the “best male voice of 2004”. The TV show, which lasted for several months, resulted in Laci becoming hugely well known in the country and he recruited a big army of fans. The host this evening will be Zsola who the wider audience will know as the singer of Zsola and the Wild Orchids. The “crazy show-man” will be also demonstrating his characteristic gruff voice, and dancers and professional projection show will make the experience quite unforgettable.
