Dvořák’s Rusalka - Exhibition from the collection of the Prague Antonín Dvořák Museum This exhibition presents material relating to the world première in 1901 of Dvořák’s opera Rusalka which took place at the Prague National Theatre, as well as documents relating to the most successful subsequent performances – the score, models of the stage set, the original Art Nouveau costumes, posters, photos of the exhibition, invoices etc – as well as costumes. Two costumes created in the sixties augment ...the collection: that for the Water Spirit (Eduard Haken) and Rusalka (Milada Šubrtová). The exhibition is also given depth with documentation of foreign stage productions – Leipzig, Vienna, Berlin, New York, Paris – and recordings by world famous performers, among them Gabriela Beňačková and Peter Dvorský. There will also be a film show. Visitors can see the 1975 Czech television version of Rusalka (directed by Bohumil Zoul), the no less successful production by the AB Barrandov Film Studio, director Petr Weigl’s film version from 1977 with actors Magda Vášáryová and Milan Kňažko in the lead roles as well as the 2002 performance by the Paris National Opera with Renée Fleming and Eva Urbanová which offered an unusual take on the libretto. The exhibition also shows the natural environment which inspired the composition of Rusalka known now as the Antonin Dvořák Memorial at Vysoká.
