The Genofte county school of fine art received the task of portraying the Creation. The drawings of the children are going to appear at an exhibition in the Palace of Arts, which exhibition will be opened in the frame of the 2007 New Year's concert, where Haydn's 'The Creation' will be sounded. The 8 to 16-year-old students of the school listened to excerpts from Haydn's music, beside reading and listening to the story of the Creation. They prepared sketches immediately after these experiences.... Afterwards, they were granted access to a wide range of base materials, so they could remodel their sketches with colours and different materials. They cut, they glued, they used sand, plastic, foam rubber, oil crayons, acrylic paint and watercolours. During the creative process they received help for creating the composition in the form of consultations. Some chose naturalistic style and some decided for abstract style. The pictures have been filtered according to age groups in a way that the work of ALL students would appear in the six great compositions depicting the six days of Creation. After the final composition of the children's works was finished, the iconic form was prepared and cut and the background was gilded. Old and new intertwine in this new process of creation. Children worked two months on the project thus there was time for contemplation. A school class of 11-year-old students in Greenland also illustrated the Creation, in order to help to expand the exhibition of the Danish kid's drawings in the Palace of Arts. This class is based in Ammasalik, the twin county of Gentofte. The children received the same written background information (without pictures) that the Danish children heard. They prepared a colourful collage about the creation of Greenland. A school class from Jutland was also asked to illustrate. the 7-year-old children worked with miniature pictures and colourful felts. The pictures have been compiled into two, circular, vertical collages. The children are going to receive photos about the exhibition and the installation of the works of art in order to see what context their pictures are placed in. They will also be able to see the pictures of other children. They are all going to receive cookies from Budapest, too.
