Awards Presented on March 15

As is the tradition, high-rank awards were presented to outstanding personalities of art on March 15. Some of the awardees are creative- and performing artists who have, over the past years, appeared on stage at the Palace of Arts several times or have had other professional ties to the institution. The Palace of Arts wishes to hereby convey hearty congratulations on the awards, wishing the recipients further success in years to come.

Awards on the Fifth Birthday of the Palace of Arts

At the birthday gala concert of the Palace of Arts, Minister of Education and Culture dr. István Hiller presented several officials of the institution with high-ranking awards.
General Manager Imre Kiss was awarded with the title Ambassador of Hungarian Culture.

Dressed for festive occasion, in front of the cameras

“Before family holidays in old times, the members of a family put on their holiday costumes and went to a photographer’s to have their picture taken. The Palace of Arts, celebrating its fifth birthday in 2010, invited photographers here to capture the moments in pictures”, photographer Péter Korniss, holder of the Kossuth Prize, said. It was Mr Korniss, as the president of the jury, to inaugurate the exhibition presenting the material of the photo competition Experience! In all respects, launched by the Palace of Arts, on March 14.

A building is made of stone; an institution constructed of ideas

The leaders of Müpa, its resident institutions and strategic partners were behind the microphones at the March 11 press conference to brief journalists on the Palace of Arts on occasion of the fifth birthday of the institution. Extraordinary Interest in the Photo Competition!

The interest shown in the photo competition Experience! In every respect announced on occasion of the fifth birthday of the Palace of Arts has surpassed all previous expectations.  Between January 20 and February 17, 2010, there were 675 competitors submitting 1851 competition materials, so in the three categories announced, there were 3388 photographs entered altogether.

Chopin Recital Featuring Lívia Rév and Tamás Érdi

A unique concert is to take place at Béla Bartók National Concert Hall on May 1, 2010. This is the first time that Lívia Rév, awarded the title Best Performer of Chopin Nocturnes in the World by BBC Radio in 1992, is to give a concert with her favourite student with special skills, Tamás Érdi.

Competition Photography in the Event Halls

As is also mentioned in the invitation to the photography competition, the event halls of the Palace of Arts, including Béla Bartók National Concert Hall and the Festival Theatre, as well as Ludwig Museum, are to be made available to photographers only at certain specified periods of time. The above venues can be used for photography at the times specified below.
