New photography and video competition for students!

The Palace of Arts is once again running a photography and video competition for students in higher education. This year's theme is "Who am I?" Entries will be judged by a highly respected panel chaired by Kossuth and Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer and photojournalist Péter Korniss. The Palace of Arts, with sponsorship from Fujifilm Magyarország Kft., will award the creators of the best pieces of work with four prizes in each category.

The panel of judges will hold an open forum on 28 March to help entrants get a clearer idea of the topic area.

Ildikó Raimondi in Capriccio’s main role

The Palace of Arts kindly informs its guests that due to Andrea Rost’s cancellation, the role of The Countess in Richard Strauss’s Capriccio, held on 11 and 14 March 2013 will be sung by Ildikó Raimondi, soloist of the Wiener Staatsoper.

Great Chinese New Year’s Day Concert Cancelled

The Palace of Arts would like to kindly notify all visitors that pursuant to information received from the organising agency, the Great Chinese New Year’s Day Concert scheduled for 9 February 2013 is cancelled. Purchased tickets can be returned for a full refund at the point of purchase or at the Palace of Arts ticket offices for 15 days after the performance.

Changes in the World Stars with the Orchestra of the Season schedule

We would like to inform all our guests that in the absence of Zoltán Kocsis, we were planning to have Dezső Ránki take his place at the Mozart Evening of the “Global Stars with the Orchestra of the Season” series, scheduled for 21 November 2012. The improvement of the condition of Zoltán Kocsis and the flexible attitude of Miklós Perényi, however, has now opened up the possibility to stage a joint production of the Artist and Orchestra of the Season as the next instalment of the series on 20 January 2013.

Balázs János wins Cziffra-competition

The annual music competition of the Cziffra Foundation was held on 22 September in Senlis, France with János Balázs, Junior Prima-award winning pianist coming out victorious, playing Liszt, Schubert and Cziffra pieces. As he said, the victory means a great deal to him as he has always considered Cziffra one of his role models. His next performance is on 5 October at the Palace of Arts where another one of his old dreams will come true when he plays Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto No. 3, considered by many to be one of the most difficult works in the history of piano music.

You ask for it - The Sárik Péter Trió performs

The 2012/2013 season of the Jazz Workshop series kicks off with a truly special night as we can safely say the set list for the 5 October concert was selected by the fans themselves. The most popular requests of the Sárik Péter Trió's popular series, Jazz Request Show are to be released as an album and audiences of the Festival Theatre will now have the chance to hear these songs live at the album premiere.

Summer camp in the Palace of Arts

Pupils between the age of 11 and 14 can participate in the Palace of Arts’ summer camp for the first time. Between 18 and 22 June children may get to know the institutions operating here, and see areas and rooms of the building that are not accessible to the regular visitors.
