Young Hungarian musicians triumph at the XVIII. International Bach Competition in Leipzig

112 contestants from 23 countries flocked to Leipzig to compete for the prestigious “Bach-prizes” in the categories of Organ, Voice and Violoncello/Baroque Violoncello.

Ditta Rohmann, the highly successful young cellist who has performed at the Palace of Arts on several occasions, took home 2nd prize in her category and was also awarded the special prize for the best interpretation of a Carl Philipp Emmanuel Bach piece. The singers’ contest was won by tenor Dávid Szigetvári, who may be known to Müpa audiences from Monteverdi and Purcell operas, as well as interpretations of baroque pieces presented by the Purcell Choir and the Orfeo Orchestra.
