Audition for the soloist roles in Händel’s oratorio Alexander’s Feast on 27 June

Palace of Arts will hold an audition for the soprano, alto, tenor and bass soloist roles in Händel’s oratorio Alexander’s Feast on 27 June 2013. A coproduction of the Lithuanian National Opera and Palace of Arts, the piece will premiere in Vilnius in June 2014 and in Budapest in March 2015.

Photo competition exhibition

Earlier in the year, the Palace of Arts ran a competition for students in higher education entitled Who Am I? centring around the prominent themes of the 2013-2014 season. The purpose of the competition was to promote creativity among young people by encouraging them to explore their own identities, particularly with respect to the role played by art and culture in their development.

Of the entries received, the jury has selected 32 individual pictures, seven series and 11 video clips to be displayed to the public for a month on Banner Square.

1 and 2 May opening hours

The Palace of Arts will be open as usual until 6 pm on 1 May.
The Andrássy út, Allee and Mammut ticket offices will be closed.

On 2 May, the Palace of Arts, all ticket offices, the Bohemian Restaurant and the Hangfürt CD Shop will be closed. The Ludwig Museum, the Vince Book Shop and the P’art Café will be open until 6 pm.

TEMPORARY DISRUPTION TO PUBLIC TRANSPORT AT THE PALACE OF ARTS

We would like to call our visitors’ attention to the fact that the No. 2 and No. 24 trams will be operating on a shortened route between 13 April and 28 April due to the reconstruction of their terminus. While the work is being completed, replacement buses will be operating between Haller utca and Közvágóhíd.

A VARIED SEASON ON THE THEME OF IDENTITY

On April 10 and as part of a major press event, the Palace of Arts announced its events for the 2013/2014 season. The Artist of the Season will be world-famous cellist Miklós Perényi, who will be performing before audiences as both a chamber music player and a soloist.

SEASON TICKETS GO ON SALE FOR 2013/2014

On 10 April, the Palace of Arts kicked off sales of season tickets for the 2013/14 season with a marketing campaign of a very different kind. During mini concerts from young students of the Snétberger Music Talent Centre at various locations around the city, those present were offered an information package containing not only a guide to the exciting programmes and star turns of the new season, but also an invitation to a special event.

LIGETI’S LE GRAND MACABRE OPERA TO BE STAGED AS CONCERT PERFORMANCE

The Palace of Arts hereby informs its visitors that, contrary to previous plans, György Ligeti’s opera, Le Grand Macabre, will be staged as a concert performance. This is in light of the fact that the Pannon Philharmonic is no longer able to contribute to the financing of the joint production with the Palace of Arts; however, it will assist in an orchestral capacity in realising the performance at the Palace of Arts on May 22.

PALACE OF ARTS SEASON TICKET SALES CAMPAIGN FEATURING YOUNG TALENTS

The Palace of Arts will be kicking off sales of season tickets for the 2013/14 season with a marketing campaign of a very different kind. On Monday, 8 April between 4 pm and 8 pm, and on Tuesday, 9 April 9 from 10 am to 2 pm, the young students of the Snétberger Music Talent Centre will be appearing in Budapest’s major shopping malls, as well as at several downtown locations.
