A VARIED SEASON ON THE THEME OF IDENTITY

2013. April 12.

On April 10 and as part of a major press event, the Palace of Arts announced its events for the 2013/2014 season. The Artist of the Season will be world-famous cellist Miklós Perényi, who will be performing before audiences as both a chamber music player and a soloist.

Meanwhile, the Orchestra of the Season, the MR Symphony Orchestra founded 70 years ago, will demonstrate its excellence and sophistication over the course of an independent concert evening, an oratorio, and an opera production. Naturally, international stars won’t be missing from the new season’s offering either. On 22 September, one of the most influential representatives of early music, Jordi Savall, will invite his audience on a journey through the realms of the imagination with music from the Borgia dynasty, which began 700 years ago. In November, Remember Shakti will take the stage under the leadership of John McLaughlin, and Met star Joyce DiDonato, accompanied by Complesso Barocco, will perform live the material from a Grammy Award-winning album on the theme of queens and dramas.

At the press conference, the representatives of the media not only received an overview of the programmes, but also a glimpse into where the Palace of Arts stands with respect to executing its strategic plan. A new collaboration was also announced: MVM Hungarian Electricity Ltd. will henceforth be supporting the institution as a strategic partner.
