Éva Korpás – vocals, Attila Halmos – violin, vocals, Gergely Koncz – violin, viola, Péter Árendás– viola, Endre Líber– cimbalom, viola, András Lelkes – double bass The Palace of Arts now hosts this festival as one of the most beautiful traditions of Hungarian world music. The title of this festival is closely linked to the Muzsikás group which also gives the closing concert. The Tükrös Band have just recorded a new album, Mezőség Folk Music from the 1900s and are presenting the material to c...elebrate their twentieth birthday. The guys have dedicated their new material, to the surprise of many, to those who love the music of Led Zeppelin. This is because the members of the band were fundamentally influenced as kids by not just folk but also by the British rock giants, and partly because these two apparently distant musical worlds “are related with their thinking in musical processes and their sweeping dynamism and intimate lyricism”, the demand that music “should talk of human fates and life”. The first half of the concert will be filled with “surprises” and will largely concentrate on musical traditions of the Translyvanian Mezőség villages which really launched the dance house movement in Hungary in the seventies. This features Zoltán Kallós, projections by photographer Béla Kása and dancers to the choreography of Dusán Hégli. They are paying special attention to “light play” in which the Tükrös music has “many unexplored possibilities”. The second half presents a series of the most popular Tükrös numbers from the past two decades, bringing to life the traditions of Hungary and the region in Slovakia known formerly as Upper Hungary. This will be combined with a new compilation with respect to music, dance and costumes from one of the most ornamental territories, Kalotaszeg.
