Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos – piano, János Egri – double bass, Elemér Balázs – drums Kossuth Prize winning pianist, Béla Szakcsi Lakatos is world renowned as a pianist. His younger son, Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos is also an exceptionally gifted musician and at home in both jazz and classical music. He completed his studies at the Béla Bartók Conservatoire and continued at the Basel Music College, where he studied in both the jazz and classical faculties. In 1995 he won the “best pianist” and “best sol...oist” prizes at the Krakow International Jazz Festival, and a year later, also took first prize at the Bach piano competition organised by Basel Radio. He has performed with Reggie Johnson, Keith Copland, Tony Lakatos and Alvin Quinn, and distinguished himself at the 2007 Jazz Spring festival with the Randy Brecker–Bill Evans Soulbop Band. He is currently a member of the Babos Project Special, the Bolla Quartet and Nikoletta Szőke’s group Jazzclusive. His classical music background and talent makes him ideal for interpreting the music of Johann Sebastian Bach and this evening he will be playing two Bach concertos in the first half of the concert, accompanied by the Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra. This has been led since 1979 by János Rolla. After the break, the jazz musician Róbert will return to be joined by bass supremo János Egri and drummer Elemér Balázs, presenting material from the fourth album which was released on the Japanese Sawano Records label.
