Ringing in the New Year is a long-established tradition for the Hungarian Heritage House. Taking the spotlight in 2024 will be families engaged with folk music, folk dance, and folk art, whether as micro-communities, dance ensembles, or families that continue to actively produce folk art. Setting the overall theme of the evening will be the violin duos of Béla Bartók, as performed by violinist Barnabás Kelemen and his son Gáspár Kelemen. These tunes, accompanied by dance productions, will take us through the most beautiful regions of the Carpathian Basin.

The sustaining power of community has helped those who believe in it through countless difficulties over the centuries. During his collecting trips, Bartók visited families for whom traditional music and dance were an integral part of everyday life. Today too, we still have communities that nurture the traditions preserved over the course of many generations, applying this legacy to the altered circumstances of the contemporary world. Come celebrate the new year with us by getting to know these treasures and becoming a part of this unique tradition and its continuous renewal!

The aim of this event is to bid farewell to the old year as a community, with the reminder that any challenge can be surmounted by the majestic power of togetherness.
