Kristóf Bacsó, Dániel Mester, Tamás Zsári, Attila Nagy, Mihály Bajusznács – woodwind, Kornél Fekete-Kovács – trumpet, cornet, Gábor Varga, Zoltán Bacsa, Ádám Gráf – trumpet, Gábor Bizják – horn, Attila Korb, Gábor Barbinek – trombone, Nándor Kasza – bass trombone, Péter Kovács – tuba, Szabolcs Oláh – guitar, Gábor Cseke – keyboard instruments, Viktor Hárs – bass instruments, András Mohay – drums, Béla Zsoldos, András Dés – percussion In Autumn 2005, Kornél Fekete-Kovács created the Modern Art... Orchestra to enable young Hungarian composers, among them members of the band, to have their jazz and contemporary musical works performed, thus dissolving boundaries between genres. This group of musicians, many from the Budapest Jazz Orchestra (also led by Fekete-Kovács) as well as other bands soon received many invitations. One of their most memorable performances took place at the Palace of Arts in September 2006, when they took to the stage with world famous American trumpeter Wallace Roney, performing the band leader’s own composition The Oak and the Bee to great acclaim. As an excellent hors d’oeuvre for the 2007 “Monday Night Jazz” series, Kornél Fekete-Kovács performs this work again as well as Kálmán Oláh’s Concerto for Jazz Orchestra with a big band line up, characterised by superb solo work and powerful ensemble playing.
