Áron Romhányi – keyboards, rap, megaphone, Péter Szendőfi – drums, octapad, samplers VJ Csiburi – video animation The Loop Doctors are a duo comprising of Áron Romhányi and Péter Szendőfi. They formed two years ago and their music fuses modern fashionable trends with jazz elements. So we can detect the influence of drum’n’bass, jungle, breakbeat and nujazz. The guys use many electronic effects and samples in their music, and achieve their unique sound by altering the natural sound of acousti...c instruments. They exclusively play their own compositions and their repertoire is diverse, surfing across an extreme range of styles. This concert focuses primarily on the material contained on their first CD with its revealing title High Voltage. This CD was awarded the Fonogram Prize this January as the “Jazz Album of 2007”. This recording is all the more inviting because its features none other than that phenomenal bass guitarist Gary Willis, who has been one of the acknowledged masters of his craft for the past twenty five years. His playing with its unique effects will indeed be heard in the concert – thanks to some clever technology. The Loop Doctors’ star guest will be another jazz great. The world renowned Los Angeles saxophone master Brandon Fields who has been one of the top jazz musicians on Planet Earth for the past thirty years. His incredibly energy filled playing can be found on numerous jazz albums – for example CDs by Rippingtons and Quincy Jones – but he was a member of groups such as the world famous funk band Towers of Power. This joint production by Loop Doctors and Brandon Fields is a unique undertaking, promising endless invention alongside sweeping broad improvisations and much humour.
